Midsize SUVs serve a wide range of drivers—from families needing three rows to weekend warriors craving cargo space and capability. With a full redesign, the 2026 Chevrolet Traverse dials up bold styling, tech-savvy features, and new levels of versatility.
The Traverse has always been a capable family mover, but for 2026, Chevy has delivered something more rugged, more connected, and more powerful than ever. With a new look, new trims, and serious performance upgrades, this isn’t just an update—it’s a reinvention.
What’s New for 2026?
Even though the Traverse just underwent a full redesign for 2024, the 2026 model adds thoughtful updates to keep the formula fresh:
The big news under the hood: Chevrolet has dropped in a new 2.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, replacing the outgoing V6. It produces 315 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque, offering more punch and better efficiency than before.
All models now come with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive remains standard. However, all-wheel drive is available across the board, and the Trail Boss trim takes capability even further with a twin-clutch AWD system, off-road-tuned suspension, 18-inch all-terrain tires, and skid plates.
Towing capacity is rated up to 5,000 pounds, giving the Traverse real utility whether you’re hauling a camper or a boat for weekend adventures.
2026 vs. 2025 Performance Changes:
Chevy didn’t just redesign the Traverse—it redefined it. The 2026 model introduces a rugged, squared-off look with a boxier silhouette, upright grille, and high-mounted LED headlights. It looks more like a Tahoe than a minivan—and that’s intentional.
Inside, every Traverse now features a massive 17.7-inch touchscreen as standard—one of the largest in the segment. The digital display is your hub for wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, available Google built-in, and an optional 11-inch digital gauge cluster.
The new cabin offers a more premium layout, updated materials, and enhanced tech in every row. USB ports in all three rows, available panoramic sunroof, and an upgraded center console with deep storage and refined touches create a family-friendly yet sophisticated space.
2026 vs. 2025 Style & Tech Highlights:

Every 2026 Traverse comes equipped with Chevy Safety Assist, including automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, front pedestrian braking, forward collision alert, and more. Higher trims and option packages offer adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, and HD surround vision.
Also new: GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving system becomes available on the Traverse for the first time, offering highway driving convenience on compatible roads.
2026 Safety Upgrades:
There are four distinct trims in the 2026 Traverse lineup, each with its own identity:
