The next-generation 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a ground-up redesign of Chevrolet’s full-size light-duty pickup, and it represents the biggest change to the truck in years. The headline is under the hood, where two all-new sixth-generation small-block V8s displacing 5.7 liters and 6.6 liters replace the outgoing 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter engines. Inside, a 16.3-inch center touchscreen and a 12.2-inch driver information center are standard on every trim, including the entry-level Work Truck, which erases the screen-size hierarchy that separated lower and upper trims on the current truck. Chevrolet has also simplified the lineup from nine trims down to seven, with the volume-selling mid-tier trim now called simply Silverado in place of LT. Chevrolet has confirmed the 2027 Silverado 1500 will be available late in 2026, with full specifications and ordering details to follow closer to launch. The 2027 Silverado 1500 carries forward four engine choices, but two of them are completely new. The next-generation 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter V8s are naturally aspirated small-blocks built on the same sixth-generation architecture as the V8 in the latest Corvette, and Chevrolet describes them as delivering improvements in both power and torque over the engines they replace. The 6.6-liter is the larger of the two and sits at the top of the gas engine lineup. These engines are assembled at Chevrolet’s Flint, Tonawanda, and St. Catharines propulsion plants.

The turbocharged 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder carries over, and it receives a meaningful upgrade for 2027: a 10-speed automatic transmission in place of the eight-speed unit used in the current truck, which should smooth out shift behavior and broaden the usable gear range. Rounding out the lineup is the Duramax 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel inline-six, which Chevrolet describes as class-exclusive and which remains a rare option in a segment where most rivals have dropped diesel power entirely.

Chevrolet has not yet published horsepower, torque, fuel economy, payload, or towing ratings for any 2027 Silverado 1500 powertrain. Those figures, along with confirmed cab and bed configurations, are expected closer to the truck’s on-sale date. We will update this page as soon as they are official.

What Chevrolet has confirmed is the off-road hardware. Three of the seven trims arrive with a 2-inch factory suspension lift: Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss, and ZR2. The ZR2 sits at the top of that group with exclusive 35-inch mud-terrain tires, standard front and rear electronic locking differentials, a dedicated off-road hood, and Multimatic DSSV dampers paired with jounce dampers to keep the truck composed at speed over rough ground. Trail Boss runs 34-inch mud-terrain tires, and Custom Trail Boss runs 34-inch tires. Buyers who choose the Silverado trim with four-wheel drive now get the Z71 package as standard equipment, adding skid plates, hill descent control, and an off-road suspension tune.

The 2027 Silverado 1500 exterior is all new, with a bolder, more planted stance and a stronger, more expressive grille. New signature LED headlamps and taillamps lead the redesign, and the truck picks up more pronounced wheel opening moldings and rocker treatments for a broader-shouldered look. Dual exhaust is standard on Custom and above, and a three-foot center high-mounted brake lamp spans the rear window. Wheel diameters run from 18 inches on the base and off-road trims up to 20-inch and 22-inch designs on the road-focused upper trims, and grille and badging treatments differ by trim so each model reads distinctly.

The cabin is where the 2027 truck makes its biggest leap. A 16.3-inch center touchscreen and 12.2-inch driver information center are standard across the entire lineup, arranged in an edge-to-edge layout. On ZR2 and High Country, an 11.5-inch front passenger screen comes standard alongside a head-up display and a rear camera mirror, for a combined total of more than 60 inches of in-cabin display. Chevrolet describes both the 16.3-inch center screen and the 11.5-inch passenger screen as class-leading in size.

Other confirmed interior features include a new available Multi-Flex center console that folds flat into a sturdy workspace, available dual wireless device charging for two compatible phones at once, and OnStar Basics connectivity standard for eight years, which covers remote commands, automatic crash response, built-in voice assistance, and real-time navigation. A panoramic sunroof is standard on High Country and available on ZR2, Trail Boss, and the Silverado trim, marking the first time the nameplate has offered one.

Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology reaches more of the lineup than ever for 2027. It is standard on High Country and ZR2 and available on the Silverado and Trail Boss trims, and it supports hands-free operation while towing, which Chevrolet notes no competing half-ton pickup currently offers. Super Cruise operates only on compatible mapped roads, requires an active plan or trial after the included three-year OnStar period, and is not a substitute for an attentive driver.

Every 2027 Silverado 1500 comes standard with a broad package of active safety and driver assistance technology, including four features that are new to the truck for 2027. Confirmed standard equipment across the lineup includes:

ZR2 and High Country add a rear camera mirror as standard equipment. Chevrolet has not yet released crash test results for the 2027 Silverado 1500, and safety or driver assistance features are never a substitute for the driver’s responsibility to operate the vehicle safely and remain attentive to traffic and road conditions.

The 2027 Silverado 1500 is offered in seven trims, down from nine on the current truck. All seven share the 16.3-inch center touchscreen, the 12.2-inch driver information center, and the standard safety package listed above. Because Chevrolet has not yet published complete equipment lists, the features below reflect what has been officially confirmed to date.
